Salcia Slack was born in St. James, Jamaica and does heptathlon for Jamaica as well as New Mexico Highlands University
Q: What drives you to be successful?
A: My son and the struggles that I have been through
Q: What is your favorite thing to do?
A: My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my son
Q: Who is your favorite athlete of all time?
A: My favorite athletes of all time are Asafa Powell and Diane Guthrie-Gresham
Q: Why are you unique?
A: I am unique because of my talent and my last name SLACK
Q: What are your future aspirations?
A: Future aspirations is to get a medal in heptathlon at the Olympics and World Champion and break the national heptathlon record
Q: What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
A: My biggest disappointment as an athlete was at the 2008 world juniors when I finish 19th (worst heptathlon score)
Q: What has been one of your greatest accomplishment as an athlete?
A: Greatest accomplishment as an athlete smashing the National junior record for heptathlon in 2008
Q: What has been one of the best teams you have been on and why?
A: The biggest team was World juniors 2008 reason being that i got to show my talent on the world seen
Q: Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
A: My hero is my mother because she was able to birth me
Q: When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
A: I am most nervous at the start of the 800m
Q: Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
A: Most embarrassing moment was when I was at D2 Nationals competing and I was only able to clear 1.49m in the high jump
Q: How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
A: It doesn’t matter to me if am by myself training I always put in the work and am self motivated so its easy to work out by myself
Q: What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
A: The other sports that I would play are bobsled and football
Q: If you could let another person take your place as an athlete, who would it be? Why?
A: The other person that I would let take my place is my Son because I can see he is interested in the sport and shows determination and dedication at his age
Q: Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
A: My biggest fan is my son because he is always cheering me on and telling me mommy you’re going to win and he shows that he love what I do
Q: If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
A: One question I would ask God is why neither of my parents are around?
Q: What do you feel like before you give a speech?
A: Before I give a speech I get real nervous
Q: What is the best compliment you have ever received?
A: The best compliment I have received that am strong determined and bless and that I must continue working hard
